Metal must be subjected to acoustic damping so that it cannot radiate any disturbing noises.
A product does not even have to make a sound to cause a noise nuisance.
A glass container by itself does not make any noise, but the deposit of bottles in it can cause a really noisy nuisance. A washbasin or bath made of metal does not produce any sound, but letting the water stream into these containers causes a hindrance. An aluminium window sill is also silent, until it starts to rain. Because metal contains little internal damping by nature, it can quite quickly radiate unpleasant noise.
